    spacious tatami
    delicious meals
    unique activities
    small onsen

Loved the spacious tatami room, perfect for traditional Japanese vibes. The private hot-spring experience added a lovely touch to our stay. Meals exceeded expectations. dinner featured beautifully presented seafood and impressive variety each night. Breakfast introduced me to delicious, traditional Japanese options that changed my perspective on the cuisine. The morning mochi-making session was a fun and unique interaction with the culture. A bit of a downside was the limited English proficiency of some staff, which made communication tricky at times. Also, the onsen facilities, while well-maintained, felt small during peak hours, making it less relaxing. Overall, a fantastic cultural experience bathed in great food.

Reasons to love it – and reasons not to

The private onsen option is perfect for those valuing privacy! The seafood dinner exceeded expectations with impressive variety.

It lacks a shower in the rooms which is inconvenient. Communication can be tricky at times due to limited English proficiency.

    exceptional dinner
    unfriendly staff
    small onsen

The seafood dinner was exceptionally presented and surprising.

The staff at Takinoya Bekkan Tamanoyu Hotel were hit or miss. While some were friendly, a few male staff members were downright unfriendly, which really affected our experience. The onsen facilities felt too small, and it often seemed crowded during peak times, negatively impacting our relaxation.

    spacious tatami room

    small onsen facilities

beautiful ryokan but needs more space in onsen

This ryokan really stands out with its spacious tatami room featuring a private toilet and washbasin. The staff at check-in were kind and waited for us to bring us inside, creating a warm welcome. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and beautifully presented, especially the seafood which kept surprising us every night.

The onsen facilities felt too small during peak times, which made it challenging to fully relax.

    mochi-making

Just a good pick for a cursory stop in Noboribetsu with exceptional value. I really enjoyed the mochi-making demonstration in the lobby—it added a fun cultural touch! Be sure to check out the private hot-spring option for a bit of extra relaxation.

    private onsen
    delicious seafood
    convenient location
    unpleasant staff interaction

We had an amazing group trip and loved the private onsen experience here. The food was top-notch, particularly the seafood dinner that kept surprising us with new dishes each night. The location is super convenient to walk to local shops and attractions, making it a perfect stay for exploring the area.

I did find one staff member at the front desk a bit unpleasant when he directed me on where to put my cup, which caught me off guard. Overall, the other staff were very helpful though.

    delicious seafood
    unique experiences
    relaxing baths
    language barrier

Staying here was such a treat, especially with the delicious seafood dinners and the unique rice cake making experience! I loved unwinding in both the public bath and the outdoor hot spring while surrounded by beautiful winter scenery. One tiny downside was the language barrier with some staff, but it didn’t take away from an overall fantastic visit! 😊
